Christmas "break" in Chicago writing finals assigned on the LAST DAY of "finals week"... just trying to get to the already assigned readings for next quarter...

I noticed that I had set my desktop background on Elliott Erwitt's famous photo "California Kiss." If you can't tell, it captures the polar opposite of everything I'm experiencing right now- a gorgeous California sunset with an in-love couple kissing at the beach and experiencing the sweetness of life, while I'm in the snow, writing endless essays, and my girlfriend of seven years took my dogs and moved out and on Sunday...

The University of Chicago- "where fun goes to die!" No wonder I just read an online report how depression is an epidemic at graduate schools! My trusty Leica was there to cheer me up through helping me figure out how to capture the moment!
